I always think of Killdeer being on the beach in the ocean waves since it’s a shorebird, but here it is in a field of weeds. I really liked getting this low because the weeds end up looking more like water instead of vegetation.

neat angle! i always think of their double necklace of stripes but it’s cool to see there are four stripes, two on the head.

I was taught to focus on the double neck stripes too, but I never thought of them as necklaces though. It makes them seem fancy now!

I love to watch those birds.

They are really entertaining. These were kicking up flowers in the field trying to find bugs. Made me think of a child throwing a tantrum and throwing things everywhere. 🙂

This bird does look a bit out of place! If not on the shoreline, I would at least think you’d see him quite near a pond or marsh, maybe…?

You would think so! It feels weird seeing them not near a body of water. They were in an empty lot instead… doesn’t seem quite regal enough for a bird like this.
