A Costa’s Hummingbird feasting on purple flowers. I’ve been getting one Costa’s running around the yard that I see every few days. I’ve had a hard time capturing a photo so I did some watercolors instead!
Supplies used: Epson Perfection V600, Pentel Arts Aquash Water Brushes, Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolor Set, Staedtler Mars Technical Lead Holder
That is… stunning. With so few strokes you’ve captured so exactly the character of the bird; I don’t know how you do it.

Wow, that’s so nice of you to say! I’ve been taking a Chinese Brush Painting class and it’s been getting me thinking of how to use as few strokes as strokes as possible to get my point across. I’ve been trying to incorporate the principles into my current work. I have several hummingbird watercolors posting over the next few days, so hopefully you’ll like those too!
