Stick Legs
Do you ever think that some birds’ legs look just like the twigs that they are sitting on? Look how close they are!

Or begging for food. I’m not sure which.
This Gray Jay looks toward the rain clouds rolling in as it takes a pause from urgently looking for food before the storm.
A Gray Jay warming itself in the sun after a whole night and morning of rain.
This Gray Jay looks like she’s a regal royal staring down at her subjects with her long gray cape flowing behind her.
(In reality, a man was eating another Gray Jay and this one swooped in from behind and grabbed the cheetos out of his hand. This was the shot a split section before… she’s really plotting a sneak attack).
Jays are just such curious birds. You can see the intelligence in their eyes.
Taking shots of Gray Jays reminds me of when I was a photographer’s assistant. He would always sigh when the bride walked out in a super pure white dress because it meant that he would have to fight the white balance the whole time. I felt the same trying to take shots of these birds, but they wouldn’t sit still like a bridal party would. 😉
Fall is coming and I’m SO excited.

A Stellar’s Jay looking very regal in his beautiful blue ‘coat’. Reminds me of a dignified judge standing in his fancy robes.
