Weathering the Storm
A female Red-winged Blackbird elegantly hanging on while the wind whips her reeds all over the place. It made me realize how strong these small birds really are!

This little Ruby-crowned Kinglet is singing it’s little heart out… like I do when I’m in the car. 😉
A willet leaving a trail of bubbles.
A willet going for an evening stroll on the beach. I wonder if all willet online dating profiles list that they like “long walks on the beach.”
A willet getting it’s feet wet. Looks like I’m not the only one who likes sandy toes.
A Heerman’s Gull and Willet have a yummy dinner of clams together.
A Whimbrel looking for lunch amongst the washed up seasweed.
Many people have been inquiring about my art for purchase, so I’m happy to announce that one of my watercolors is up for auction to benefit the San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy! The SELC helps protect and enhance the San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve which includes 1,000 acres of habitat that hosts more than 700 species of plants and animals. The lagoon is vital to bird migration and is home to hundreds of native San Diego bird species, including several threatened species.
Also, if you never made it to the San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center, you have to go and take the kids. The building is LEED certified, has great views, and the most adorable rooftop garden. They have an amazing trails that are ADA accessible. Â This lagoon has been so lovingly restored that it’s an absolute blast to go visit. If hanging out in lagoons isn’t your thing, this is the one lagoon you should go visit.
Please help me support this great cause by checking out my artwork and the other items up for auction online!
