After doing so many watercolors without inked lines, I thought that it was time that I tried a few with Micron outlines.
It’s always a little sad to me when female birds are just too boring compared to their male counterparts. This female Surf Scoter is a perfect example! Look how cool the male Surf Scoter is!
A Marbled Godwit looking for dinner in gross water in a lagoon inlet. Reminds me of people hunting crawdads when I was a kid. I never really liked anything anything that would be in water this gross. Who knows what you are eating?!?

I always think of Killdeer being on the beach in the ocean waves since it’s a shorebird, but here it is in a field of weeds. I really liked getting this low because the weeds end up looking more like water instead of vegetation.
I was surprised to see this Killdeer on a walk the other day. It was hanging out in an empty field… so far away from it’s natural habitat! I’ve never seen one not on the water.
I was surprised to see this Snowy Egret fishing in these rocks because it doesn’t blend in with it’s environment at all. Maybe some fish will be fooled, but I don’t think any of us are!
Seagull on the rocks at the tide pools at Point Loma. I just kept being hit by the contrast of the dark hard rocks and the white soft water with the seagull bridging both.
A new bird species for me, this Bufflehead looks like it’s wearing a fancy tux with balding white hair.
