I was surprised to see this Killdeer on a walk the other day. It was hanging out in an empty field… so far away from it’s natural habitat! I’ve never seen one not on the water.
I always think of Killdeer being on the beach in the ocean waves since it’s a shorebird, but here it is in a field of weeds. I really liked getting this low because the weeds end up looking more like water instead of vegetation.
