Is it only me, but when birds stand on one foot they look like they are standing on a pogo stick?

Seagull are the ultimate beach bums, right?!? All they do is hang out watching the ocean and eating when they feel like it.

A shot of a seagull that I took while in Venice a few months ago. It’s funny that I immediately didn’t recognize that this was Italy and not California. I guess a seagull sitting on a wooden post in the water is a pretty universal image.

Sometimes you can really see how birds are descendants of dinosaurs. Just imagine this whimbrel as a velociraptor running on the beach! They even look like they would run the same.
