The Cedar Waxwings are in town and, geez, are they everywhere! They seem to favor all the Eucalyptus Trees around San Diego. They are hard to capture pictures of because they nest in the tops of these tall trees, so I went to the internet to look for reference photos. All of them have the Waxings sitting in a snow-covered tree with bright red berries. I found the juxtaposition of the birds I see in sunny San Diego and the the snowy reference photo so I decided to draw on on snow covered berries instead of palm trees. Enjoy!
Finally! The internet has been full of everyone’s Cedar Waxwing photos and I’ve finally managed to see some of my own. I don’t know why I haven’t managed to see any while the rest of the world has but here they are. Finally saw them at the end of February. I’m afraid that I won’t see any for the rest of the winter, but at least I managed a couple of shots.
I just love how the feathers have such a soft transition it looks like the bird was dyed with an ombre effect. How beautiful!
