The feet!
I was at the San Diego Safari Park last week and caught these flamingos doing their fancy mating dance…. which basically looks like a group of flamingos crammed together about to get onto a crowded subway train.

Filmed in my backyard at my new feeder. I’m trying out Vimeo instead of YouTube to see which work better. The video quality of Vimeo is better and doesn’t have ads like YouTube, but it also has more limits on uploads. So, please let me know which you prefer.
On the recent Northwest Camping Trip Extravaganza, we stopped at the Chihuly Garden and Glass museum. Chihuly loved to integrate his work into and take inspiration from the natural world. Many of his pieces mimic natural flora shapes but seem other-worldly, especially when they are placed in nature instead of in a museum. I really enjoyed the gardens, but it was especially thrilling to see several White-crowned Sparrows frolicking in the gardens and sitting on the art pieces.
Here are some photos of the garden and the sparrows. I’ve also included a video of one sparrow taking a bath in a tiny puddle in a rock surrounded by Chihuly glass pieces. This museum and garden experience were one of the highlights of the trip

A little Anna’s Humminbird in my backyard preening itself after a small drizzle of rain. It scratches with its feet and preens its little feathers. For bonus cuteness, it sticks out its tongue.
Sorry for the shaky camera, I had to stand on my couch and hold my camera high in the air to get the shot over the wire on the fence to keep my dachshund in. I also removed the audio which only contained lines from the movie Jane Eyre, which I recommend that you don’t see.
This cute little hummingbird came the day I put up my hummingbird feeder. He was very upset that I was in the yard near the feeder, so he chirped his displeasure from a dead bush in my neighbor’s yard. I thought his display was adorable, which obviously wasn’t what he was going for.
After filling up the feeder in the backyard, I looked up and saw this female house finch hanging out winking at me. She just kept doing it and I thought it was really great so I grabbed my camera and got some video.
Happy Monday.
