Happy Mother’s Day! Enjoy this photo of two Lorikeets at the San Diego Safari Park cuddling!
This Burrowing Owl was sneaking around in it’s cage in the Safari Park through the grass trying to be extra sneaky. Not as cool as seeing it in the wild, but neat to see it all the same (the ones in the park are rescues that are so injured that they can’t be released back into the wild).
This White-crowned Robin Chat looks like a weird alternate universe robin with graying hair.
Took this at the Safari Park.
A Black-crowned Night Heron scowling at tourists at the Safari Park. The kids screaming nearby might have had something to do with it though… 🙂
I love how a Lorikeets coloring really reflects its personality! This Lorikeet is hamming it up for a photo at the Safari Park.
This Golden-Breasted Starling looks like he’s heading to a wedding or prom in his fancy yellow vest!
I wish we had these adorable birds in San Diego but you can only visit them in the San Diego Safari Park.
This West African Crowned Crane almost has a halo in the afternoon light.
San Diego Safari Park
A cute Anna’s Hummingbird risking its life darting in and out of sharp aloe plants for a little snack.
I’ve been to the San Diego Safari Park several times but never managed to make it all the way up the hill to the native plant gardens. Even though it was only 10am in the middle of winter, it was already hot when we made it up there so there weren’t many birds hanging around. You would think that the birds would be all over the plant garden, but I guess they were hanging out down in the shade in the animal part of the zoo.
