This Burrowing Owl was sneaking around in it’s cage in the Safari Park through the grass trying to be extra sneaky. Not as cool as seeing it in the wild, but neat to see it all the same (the ones in the park are rescues that are so injured that they can’t be released back into the wild).
This White-crowned Robin Chat looks like a weird alternate universe robin with graying hair.

I’ve been to the San Diego Safari Park several times but never managed to make it all the way up the hill to the native plant gardens. Even though it was only 10am in the middle of winter, it was already hot when we made it up there so there weren’t many birds hanging around. You would think that the birds would be all over the plant garden, but I guess they were hanging out down in the shade in the animal part of the zoo.
