Anna’s Hummingbird
Anna’s Hummingbird
I love how hummers have these tiny little dots on their chins. They look like they should make a picture.
The hummers have been migrating through the area and it’s super obvious who is a native and who is migrating through. Look how thin this Anna’s is! All that flying is good cardio apparently.
This poor juvenile Anna’s is definitely in that awkward stage where the baby feathers have fallen out and the adult feathers haven’t quite filled in yet. We’ve all been there, right? When I was a teen I had braces, glasses, and bangs… so I fill this poor guy’s pain.
Like many of you know, I’m a graphic designer by trade and for some reason I just really love the color of this Anna’s head against the green. I can’t tell you how often designers are told to “make it pop” and this reminded me of that because of the colors.
This male Anna’s Hummingbird is desperately trying to see what the other birds are up to. Such a snoop!
This male Anna’s Hummingbird reminds me of the stereotypical grumpy old man that lives next door yelling at kids to “get off my lawn!”
A male juvenile hummingbird still growing it’s gorget in. Looks like the equivalent of a teen boy trying to grow a mustache. 🙂
