Hello J.J. Very nice photographs. There is a similar looking bird found here in the Canadian Rockies called a Long-Billed Curlew. I agree with you about how they resemble dinosaurs. Take care. Bob

We get Long-billed Curlews in San Diego too! It’s always a little hard to tell them apart because they look so similar but curlews have much more epic beaks.
